In extremely blustery weather conditions, Sophie Crumly from Newbury AC smashed the ladies’ course record and finished in 5th position overall in a time of 30 mins 22 secs. Second lady was Lesley Whiley from Reading Road Runners in a time of 33 mins 45 secs. Lesley was also first in the Lady Veteran’s 45 Year Age Group category. In third place was Lisa Godding from Wantage in a time of 34 mins 26 secs.
The first man across the line was veteran runner, Tim Hughes (aged 58) from White Horse Harriers in a time of 28 mins 09 secs. In second place was Steve Barnes from Newbury AC in a time of 28 mins 59 secs, with Les Newell from Abingdon Amblers AC third in a time of 29 mins 31 secs. Another notable performance was from Roy Treadwell of Oxford City AC, aged 64 , who finished in 7th position overall in a time of 31 mins 06 secs.
Marwood Jeans and Rachel Davey were the winners of the Peasemore male and female resident categories.
The fifth annual five mile run had chosen Newbury & District MS Society as their main charity this year and the organisers were delighted that John Holt and his team of volunteers were able to attend.
